Import
Import your guest list from Excel, Zola, or The Knot
Most broken seating charts start with a messy list. Clean once, import cleanly, and seating gets much faster—whether you export from Excel, Zola, or The Knot.
Must-have columns
At minimum: full name. Ideally: group, meal/allergies, notes, and optional VIP or child tags.
- Name (or First + Last)
- Group / side
- Meal and allergies
- Freeform notes (accessibility, baby, keep apart from X)
From Excel or Google Sheets
Export UTF-8 CSV. One row per guest if you assign seats individually. Remove duplicates and blank rows first.
From Zola or The Knot
Export the guest list, rename headers if needed, save as CSV. The editor intelligently detects many common columns.
Common pitfalls
Broken encoding, merged columns, one row for a whole couple, or meals buried in messy notes. Fix in the spreadsheet before import.
After import: seat guests
Filter by group, seat hard constraints first, then fill the rest. Comparing spreadsheet vs dedicated tool? Read our Excel comparison too.
